Mona takes pride in her community involvement efforts. She has been able to both give back and invigorate her community.

The Akron Roundtable brings speakers to Akron who inform, educate and stimulate listeners on topics of importance to the region, the country and the world. Established in 1976 as a community forum to encourage and bring bold, creative and new ideas to the region. Mona currently serves on the Board of Directors. Learn more »
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Mona served on the Executive Board. Learn more »

The FBI Cleveland Citizens Academy is a nonprofit public service organization with the goal of promoting safer communities in the greater Cleveland metropolitan area. Mona is a graduate of the class of 2019 and serves as Class President. Learn more »

To dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease & stroke as the number one killer of women, the American Heart Association created Go Red for Women, a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health. Mona is an advocate for the Go Red Executive Leadership Team. Mona served as Chair in 2014 respectively. Learn more »

Mona is very involved with numerous committees and is a graduate of class of XXVIII serving as Class President. Her son Nicholas graduated from Junior Leadership Akron in 2019 and was bestowed with the Outstanding Leadership Award. Learn more »

The Mona Sarkar Endowed Scholarship
The Mona Sarkar Endowed Scholarship in Accounting was established in November 2012 by Ms. Mona Sarkar in honor of her beloved father, Sunil Baran Sarkar, who was a very successful polymer engineer known for his philanthropic spirit and his dedication to lifelong learning. This endowed fund will support nontraditional students for their hard work and sacrifices while pursuing a degree at The University of Akron George W. Daverio School of Accountancy. Learn more »

Stan Hywet is Akron’s first and largest National Historic Landmark, and is also the nation’s 6th largest historichome open to the public. It is an accredited museum of the American Alliance of Museums, one of 157 in Ohio and one of only 1,056 in the United States. Mona is proud to serve on the Professional Advisors Council to help preserve and share the historic Estate and serve as a resource for educational, cultural and recreational enrichment. Learn more »

The Summit County Historical Society was established to write a history of Akron to be ready for the centennial in 1925. The Society owns and manages several properties including the Perkins Stone Mansion, home of Akron's founding family; John Brown House, home of the internationally recognized abolitionist; and Old Stone School in downtown Akron - a partnership with Akron Public Schools. Mona is a proud graduate and is very involved with the University of Akron serving on the Foundation Board, School of Law Advancement Board as well as the College of Business Advisory board. She is the recipient of the distinguished Frank L. Simonetti Award from the College of Business and the proud award winner of the Outstanding Law Alumni award from the School of Law.
